CHILDREN'S CATECHUMENATE (RCIA adapted for Children)

Catechist/Co-Catechist Catechist will teach specialized curriculum for children who are preparing to receive the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist) at the Easter Vigil. Classes begin in October and end in April. Teaching materials are provided. Catechist will collaborate with, and receive support from the RCIA Director.

Volunteer Descriptions

 


Catechist/Co-Catechist:  Together with a partner, plan and teach weekly classes September through May. Materials and training in-services provided in August - September. Approximately 14 are needed for Sunday and 30 needed for Wednesday.

Classroom Aide:
  Assist catechists in the classroom during weekly classes. Training in-services provided in August-September. Approximately 8 are needed for Sunday and 15 for Wednesday.


Office Aides:
Assist with attendance records and clerical duties during F.F. class times. Need to be available for full class session once-twice a month. Approximately 12 are needed.

Child Care Aide:  Provide care to the children of catechists and aides during FF class times and/or catechist in-services.

Substitute Catechist/Aide: Trained at in-service in August-September. On-call volunteer to substitute in the classroom for an absent catechist/aide.

Family Night Planning Team: Assist the program coordinator in planning family nights for each grade level once a year.

Special Projects: Assist coordinator with craft project preparation.
