Throughout our lives, we discover holy places where our seeking leads to finding, where we love the Lord and our neighbor, where we encounter Christ, where our faith is enlivened, and where our deepest identity is confirmed. St. Joseph Parish is one such place. We seek to proclaim the Word of God faithfully. We seek to celebrate our communal prayer and worship, in particular the Eucharist, reverentially and joyfully. We seek to enflesh our love for Christ in works of charity, in service to the poor and needy. We seek to demonstrate Christian hospitality at all times.
We invite you to navigate this website to learn more about parish life at St. Joseph. If you are new to Vancouver or the surrounding area and are looking to become a member of a parish community, we invite you to celebrate the Eucharist with us.
We are St. Joseph Catholic Church
St. Joseph in Vancouver, Washington has been serving the needs of the local Catholic community since 1952. Today we are a parish of vibrant programs of education and formation. Our school has been bringing children and their families to our parish for over 60 years. Along with our faith formation and youth ministry, we call our children and young people to fully participate in the life of the Church. Our numerous ministries reach out to the elderly, young, families, the sick, physically disabled, homebound and all who seek a spiritual home with the family of Christ.
We are a parish of 1,949 families. One of the largest parishes in the Seattle Archdiocese, our size can feel somewhat daunting at first. However, the size of our parish also allows us to draw on the enormous reservoir of talents and gifts present in our members. Our community is filled with hundreds of gifted and talented people, who share their gifts in a variety of ways. Our parish is enriched by the heritage and culture of the many that have joined us. At St. Joseph Parish, a large number of our parishioners engage in some aspect of pastoral ministry, such as faith formation, youth ministry, liturgical ministries, outreach to the poor and needy, bereavement ministry, the RCIA, and care of the sick and homebound. St. Joseph Parish demonstrates that gifts are blessed when they enhance the good of others, when we place our gifts at the service of one another. There are innumerable ways to become an engaged member and help proclaim the Gospel message.
So, we warmly invite you to make St. Joseph your parish home. Wherever you are on your faith journey, you are welcome here. Whether you are a practicing Catholic, a seeker for truth with no church affiliation, or someone who has been away from the church for whatever reason – our welcome is waiting for you. Welcome home!
